Grandfather Srettha ThavisinThailand’s newly elected Prime Minister, on August 22, thanked lawmakers for their support and helped him win the vote. elect the Prime Minister took place in the afternoon of the same day at the National Assembly building.

Addressing reporters at the headquarters of Pheu Thai Party (For Thailand), Mr. Srettha emphasized: “I will try my best and work tirelessly to improve the quality of life for Thai people.”

In addition, the newly elected Prime Minister of Thailand said that he will hold a press conference after it is officially announced King of Thailand approve the appointment decision.

Srettha won 482 votes in favor, 165 against and 81 abstentions, exceeding the total of 747 parliamentary seats in both houses.

Mr. Srettha, born on February 15, 1961, holds a Master of Business Administration from Claremont Graduate University (USA). He began his career as an Assistant Product Manager at Thailand’s P&G Consumer Business Group, before moving into real estate and rising to the position of President and CEO of the company. Thailand’s leading Real Estate Development company, Sansiri Plc.

Mr. Srettha became the advisory chairman of the Pheu Thai party in March this year and a month later, he resigned in Sansiri to officially join the Pheu Thai party.

Along with other Pheu Thai leaders, Mr Srettha played a key role in the election campaign ahead of the May 14 general election.

Although new to the Thai political scene, Mr Srettha has been known before for his outspoken views on government policy, social and political issues.

Mr Srettha has also declared his enemies to be poverty and inequality and aims to dedicate himself to improving the lives of all Thais.

Soon, Mr. Srettha will join the 11-party coalition led by the Pheu Thai Party to embark on the formation of a new government.
