«Yandex” will transfer yandex.kz servers to the territory of Kazakhstan, the company confirmed.

Earlier in the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan to the local agency NUR.KZ reportedthat recently a meeting was held between representatives of the ministry, the information security committee of the republic and Yandex, during which the security of users’ personal data was discussed.
“As part of a drive to strengthen partnerships and national digital resources”Yandex“confirmed his readiness to continue work on the transfer to the territory of the country of servers serving the yandex.kz domain, – this has already been done for the Yandex.Go service,” the Ministry of Digital Development specified.
On August 9, the operation of the yandex.kz domain was temporarily suspended in Kazakhstan. The legislation of the republic provides for such sanctions for placing an Internet resource on hardware and software systems outside the country. Later that day, access to the company’s services in Kazakhstan was restored.
On August 10, the Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development clarified that Yandex asked the authorities to extend the timeframe for transferring the yandex.kz domain to the territory of the republic and expressed its readiness to comply with the requirements of the law. The ministry added that they do not seek to completely block the operation of offending domains, using only a temporary access restriction tool. Such a tool was used by the department on August 9, since Yandex did not provide a response to its request of July 25.
