In July, the Possible Book turns 20. It will be an edition with a double location: on 7, 8, 9 and 10 July in the blue painted blue of Polignano a Mare (Ba) and – absolutely new – on 22, 23 and 29, 30 July in Vieste. A double appointment – say the organizers – which offers a broad and stimulating cultural reflection that winds along the coast of the Adriatic Sea, from South to North of Puglia, one of the most popular regions for quality tourism, artistic and natural beauties, and products. food and wine. The Possible Book – they continue – today is one of the most relevant and resilient cultural events in our country. The first, among the very few, which last year was held in the presence, in total safety even during the Covid emergency.
The blue sky is the theme chosen for the twentieth edition: a tribute to 40 years after the death of Rino Gaetano which highlights with the color of the sea the themes that will be mainly discussed during the evenings. In fact, ample space will be given to new models of environmental sustainability, to meetings with the brightest minds in science to talk about global warming, research and innovation. The events are sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, CNR, Asimov Prize, the University of Bari, the Polytechnic of Bari and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics.
Another highlight of the Libro Possibile, directed by Rosella Santoro, is the now consolidated collaboration with the Premio Strega, which, a few days after the awarding of the title, reserves the winner’s first public participation at the Polignano a Mare Festival.

The advances on the guests

As per tradition, from late afternoon to late evening, in the most beautiful and evocative squares of Polignano a Mare and Vieste, new this year, there are meetings with over 200 guests, among the most illustrious names of the national cultural scene and international.
The Possible Book XX edition is preparing to host the authors among the most read and loved by the public. Waiting for the 2021 bill, which will be announced in early June, we anticipate a few names: among the welcome returns there will be Carlo Cottarelli, Erri de Luca, Diego De Silva. The most famous signatures of Gianrico Carofiglio, Mario Desiati, Gabriella Genisi and Nicola Lagioia participate to represent contemporary Apulian literature. Among the previews of the books at the Festival there will be the meeting with Omar Hassan, the former boxer and now well-known painter who holds art in his hand and imprints it on canvas. Some reflections on women will be entrusted to the meetings with Annarita Briganti, Aldo Cazzullo, Marina Di Guardo, Rula Jebreal, Guido Romeo, Manuela Grigli. Great expectations for the unprecedented performance of Mario Tozzi and Enzo Favata on a suggestive terrace overlooking the sea.
There will be the business world, the representatives of the institutions and ministers in charge of this government. Journalists and essayists such as Francesco Costa, Ferruccio de Bortoli, Mario Calabresi, Antonio Calabr, Myrta Merlino, Giovanna Pancheri, Alessandro Sallusti, Marco Travaglio will talk about topicality.
Space for the celebrations of the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death and Balkan literature with a focus on Albanian production, together with the authors Tom Kuka and Ardian Vehbiu, thirty years after the Vlora ship landed on the Adriatic coast.
The Possible Book will also be an opportunity to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with Riccardo Noury, spokesperson for Amnesty International, and the testimony of Moni Ovadia.
