Former Union Minister Rajendra Balaji was arrested by private police in Karnataka yesterday for allegedly defrauding the government of Rs 3 crore and Rs 10 lakh.

The arrested Rajendrapalaji was produced before the Virudhunagar Criminal Court. The court ordered him to be remanded in custody for 15 days. Following this, former minister Rajendra Balaji has been jailed in Trichy.

Meanwhile, the Chennai High Court dismissed a petition filed by Rajendra Balaji seeking bail before him. He had appealed to the Supreme Court against the verdict. Rajendra Balaji was arrested yesterday while appealing for an appeal in the Supreme Court today.

In this context, the appeal filed by Rajendra Balaji came up for hearing in the Supreme Court today. The petition came up for hearing before a bench headed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Was Rajendra Balaji then prosecuted for political motives? As questioned by the Supreme Court. Responding to this, the Tamil Nadu State Attorney said that it was not registered with this political motive.

Judges then intervened and we were to hear the bail petition today before Rajendra Balaji filed it. Why so much haste in it? Why did you bother all the lawyers related to Rajendra Balaji? They questioned the Tamil Nadu government.

Further, the Supreme Court granted interim restraining order to arrest 3 persons namely Baburai, Balaraman and Muthupandi involved in this case.

Following this, the Supreme Court directed the Tamil Nadu government to respond to the pre-bail petition filed by Rajendra Balaji and adjourned the case till the 10th.
