KTM today unveiled its renewed 390 Duke 2024a model that had practically remained unchanged since 2017 and that now, at the gates of 2024, has been profoundly improved by the Austrian factory, giving it a more current aesthetic, changing its chassis and improving the performance of its LC4c engine, which It grows in displacement and power.

Although rumors spoke of a new range of 490 cc single-cylinder engines, KTM has finally raised the displacement of the new 390 Duke slightly to 399 cc compared to the 373 cc of the previous model, resulting in a final power of 33 kW (44.8 cv). The 2024 Duke also incorporates an improved gear change and an optimized cylinder head, and is prepared for the Euro 5.2 emission standard.

As for the chassis, the new design features a two-piece structure consisting of an all-new multi-tubular steel main frame, combined with a die-cast aluminum subframe. The shock is now also set off-center to allow for a larger airbox, lowering the seat height (from 830 to 820mm, with option to lower to 800mm).

The main objective of the chassis design is not only aesthetic, but also to improve the dynamics of the bike. increasing torsional rigidity, improving agility and chassis response. To that end, a new cast aluminum bent swingarm provides a strong and durable platform for the rear suspension system, which incorporates a direct mount for the shock absorber, which is now offset to the side for that sportier look. The total weight of the motorcycle, without gasoline, is 165 kilos.

The suspension section also improves by entering a WP APEX 43mm open cartridge fork, adjustable in compression and extension. At the rear, the separate-piston WP APEX shock can also be adjusted for rebound and preload, to find the ideal mix of comfort and traction.

On the front wheel, the 2024 KTM 390 Duke rides a 320mm disc brake with an all-new four-piston quick-release caliper. The design includes larger discs to reduce operating temperatures, with improvements in fade resistance and longer pad life. A 240mm brake disc with a completely new dual-piston caliper has been installed on the rear wheel, with the same qualities as the front. Cornering ABS and SUPERMOTO ABS are also part of the standard equipment.

New 390 Duke offers its pilots a choice of Riding Modes to better adapt to whatever condition they find themselves in. With STREET mode activated as standard, the fury of the KTM 390 DUKE is unleashed, while RAIN mode takes care of keeping things a little more controlled in the wet. Both are easily activated via TFT instrumentation.

For the first time, 390 Duke comes equipped with launch control as standard. When the system is engaged, the engine peaks at 7,000 rpm at wide open throttle, waiting for the rider to release the clutch.

In the instrumentation section, we found a new 5″ TFT and totally new sealed glass. This is combined with a new set of switches, with four-way menu buttons that allow easy interaction with all of the bike’s functions, including smartphone connectivity. Speaking of which, all new generation Duke models are equipped with connectivity features, allowing pilots to play music, take incoming calls and get to their destination with turn-by-turn navigation.

Aesthetically, the 2024 Duke 390 is now more aggressive; the metal fuel tank is now longerand the side plastics extend until reaching the fork, where we now find a Full-LED headlight with a more aggressive and intimidating style that reinforces the image of ‘Mini Beast’ that this 390 Duke wants to express, inspired by the shapes of the 1290 Super Duke R.
