US punishes Chinese officials for ‘forced assimilation’ of 1 million Tibetan children

The United States imposed sanctions on Tuesday (22) against Chinese officials who adopt a policy of “forced assimilation” of Tibetan children. More than a million minors have been separated from their families, according to UN experts. Beijing’s policies “aim to eliminate Tibet’s linguistic, cultural and religious traditions among younger generations of Tibetans,” US Foreign Secretary Antony Blinken said in a statement.
