Russian pro-military bloggers also reported on the removal of the general from his post. “Ribar” writes that Suravikin was dismissed almost immediately after the mutiny of the head of the “Wagner” PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin in July of this year.
Suravikin commanded Russian troops in Ukraine from October 2022 to January 2023. After that, he was transferred to the position of deputy commander. At the same time, since 2017, Suravikin held the position of commander of the Air Force.
In June of this year, during the Wagner mutiny, Suravikin recorded a video message to the mercenaries of the “Wagner” PMC, calling on them to return to their places of deployment. The media previously reported on Suravikin’s connections with the founder of the Communist Party of Ukraine Yevgeny Prigozhin. According to some reports, the general was detained – in any case, he has not appeared in public since then.
