Netflix Announces Director’s Cut of Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon’ With Extra Content
In an exciting announcement for fans, Netflix has revealed that a director’s cut of Zack Snyder’s film, “Rebel Moon,” will be released, featuring close to an hour of extra content. Unlike Snyder’s previous director’s cut of “Justice League,” this extended version of the epic space opera will be available without the need for a fan campaign.
Snyder spoke about the director’s cut in an interview with Tudum, saying, “The director’s cut is close to an hour of extra content, so I think it’s a legitimate extended universe version. You really get to see a lot. It’s just more painted-in all the way.” Snyder further explained that director’s cuts have always been a passion project for him, often having to fight for their release in the past. However, with Netflix’s support, scenes were even shot specifically for the director’s cut, offering fans a unique and exclusive experience. “It’s really a revelation because it gives that second kick at the can for big fans, like a real discovery that they would not [otherwise] get. I’m really excited about it!” Snyder exclaimed.
“Rebel Moon” is a two-part epic set to stream on Netflix. The first part, titled “Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire,” will be available on December 22, 2022, while the second part, titled “Rebel Moon: The Scargiver,” is scheduled to premiere on April 19, 2024.
The film follows the story of a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy that is threatened by the armies of the tyrannical ruling force, Kora, played by Sofia Boutella. A mysterious stranger, portrayed by Boutella, becomes the villagers’ best hope for survival. The star-studded cast also includes Ed Skrein, Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Cleopatra Coleman, Jena Malone, Fra Fee, and Anthony Hopkins.
