Thiruvananthapuram: The government has appointed Ranjith as the chairman of Chalachithra Academy. Director Kamal will be replaced.
Meanwhile, MG has been appointed chairman of the Sangeetha Nataka Academy. Though it was decided to appoint Sreekumar, no order has been issued in this regard in the face of strong opposition.
The decision to consider them for these posts was taken at the CPM Secretariat meeting.
Currently, director Kamal is the chairman of Chalachithra Akademi. He was elected chairman in 2016. Actress KPAC Lalitha is currently the Chairperson of Sangeetha Nataka Academy.
Singer M.G. The CPM’s decision to appoint Sreekumar has drawn widespread criticism from Left leaders. In the 2016 assembly elections, MG won the Kazhakoottam constituency. The Left supporters themselves came out against the appointment, citing evidence that Sreekumar had campaigned for the BJP and preached that the BJP should rule the state.
