Regions must take action against the backdrop of the spread of the omicron coronavirus strain in a number of countries, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said. According to him, the new strain of the virus is extremely contagious and spreads rapidly.
“In the context of the spread of the new omicron coronavirus strain in many countries of the world, the regions need to take serious preventive measures,” said Mr. Murashko at a meeting of the headquarters for coronavirus and the organization of medical care on holidays (quote from the website of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation).
As the minister noted, not only imported cases of infection with a new strain have been recorded in Russia. So, in some regions there are cases of detection of “omicron” in people who have not left the country.
According to the latest data from the headquarters, for the third day in a row, less than 16 thousand cases of coronavirus infections were detected in Russia – 15 316 cases. The level of herd immunity in the country reached 62.6% in a week. The epidemiological situation has improved in seven regions of the country. The deterioration is observed in 24 regions.
