For a bit, it’s like being immersed in the cover of the “Black Island”: the canoe helmed by Tintin sets sail for a black islet planted in a deceptively calm sea. At the bow, Snowy looks at his master with the air of saying: “Are you sure you want to go over there?” Hergé was inspired by a Scottish islet – Black Isle, and its fortified tower – but, in the gloomy genre, he could just as well have chosen Tévennec: a dark pebble whipped by the spray of the tumultuous Iroise Sea , where so many lives have been swallowed up. A white house flanked by a turret emerges from this broth of wind, waves and foam.
