The General Security Service today (Thursday) allowed publication that as part of a joint operation with the Israel Police and the IDF, during the month of July, several Israeli citizens, residents of Kfar Qasim, were arrested on suspicion of receiving many high-quality weapons. Two Iranian-made explosive devices were found in their possession.

In a raid by Shin Bet, YMM and MGB fighters on a residential complex in Lod, additional Israeli citizens were located who intended to use one of the explosives for criminal purposes. The Shin Bet investigation revealed that Hezbollah worked to recruit and operate an infrastructure of smugglers in Israel for the purpose of receiving unusual weapons and distributing them to various elements, including criminal elements.

According to a senior Shin Bet official, “This affair once again illustrates the efforts of terrorist elements from Hezbollah and Iran to exploit Arab Israeli citizens for security activities against the state. It also emerged in the investigation that the seam between the security and the criminal is extremely thin.”

Today, indictments were filed against the four detainees, citizens of Israel, before the District Court (Central) on charges of weapons offenses. The detainees are: Galal Harsa – Israeli citizen, resident of Kfar Qasim, 28 years old. Ahmed Issa – Israeli citizen, resident of Kfar Qasim, 30 years old. Muhammad Issa – Israeli citizen, resident of Kfar Qasim, 39 years old. And Noah Asam – Israeli citizen, resident of Lod, 30 years old .

The General Security Service stated: “We will continue to work resolutely to detect and thwart any intention to infiltrate IML on the part of Iran and Hezbollah and will take all the means at its disposal in order to thwart activity that endangers the security of the State of Israel and its citizens and will bring the parties involved to justice. This affair brings to light the increasing preoccupation of the Shin Bet in the field of intelligence and its spillover into both the security and criminal fields. The service will continue to expand its work in this area.”
