In Seestadt Aspern in the 22nd district of Vienna, a person died on Friday evening. Fire brigade divers were able to salvage them from the Seestadt lake and hand them over to the rescue services, despite resuscitation measures, the person died on site – a rescue spokesman was unable to give APA any information about age and gender in the evening. It is also unclear why the person was in the water.
“The operation was initiated by an emergency call that a person could not get out of the water – I cannot say whether this came from relatives or passers-by,” said the spokesman. The daily newspaper “Österreich” reported on Friday about a “major operation” with several divers and a helicopter.
