Zendaya and Tom Holland Pay Surprise Visit to Oakland School Event

Zendaya and Tom Holland, known for their roles in the “Spider-Man” trilogy, made a secret trip to Oakland for a school event. The couple joined forces with the basketball-themed charities Hoopbus and Project Backboard to clean up the playground at West Oakland Middle School.

In a video shared on Zendaya’s Instagram page, the “Euphoria” star greeted the surprised students and expressed her happiness to be there. “I just came to say hi to all of you, see your beautiful faces, and have a great time,” Zendaya said.

Elvin Rodriguez from Netflix’s “Hustle” and Sam Diaz from the Harlem Globetrotters also joined the couple at the event. One student asked Zendaya if she would be playing basketball, to which she declined due to her lack of experience. However, she cheerfully assisted Rodriguez with a layup, while Holland attempted to learn how to spin a basketball on his finger under Diaz’s guidance.

The Hoopbus, a remodeled yellow school bus that travels around the country, aims to facilitate discussions about race and equality through basketball. On the other hand, Project Backboard focuses on revitalizing basketball courts by adding vibrant artwork.

Zendaya documented the event on her Instagram account, showcasing custom shirts by Oaklandish, an East Bay clothing company. She also captured a moment of Holland on the court. This isn’t the first time the couple has visited Oakland schools, as they had previously dropped by Zendaya’s alma mater, Oakland School for the Arts, and distributed school supplies at Global Family Elementary School.

Zendaya currently has some free time on her hands after Warner Bros. decided to postpone the release of “Dune Part Two” due to the ongoing Hollywood strikes.

The event at West Oakland Middle School was a special day for the students, who got the opportunity to spend time with Zendaya, Tom Holland, Elvin Rodriguez, and Sam Diaz. It was a moment they won’t soon forget.
