Warner Bros. chooses to delay the theatrical release until the all-star cast of the 2021 Oscar-winning film can promote the film. The new date to mark is March 15, 2024

The release of «Dune – Part Two», one of the most anticipated films of the autumn, has been postponed from November to next year. Warner Bros confirmed it on Thursday. Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi sequel should have been released on November 3rd. Instead, it will hit theaters on March 15 next year, due to the strike by the writers’ and actors’ unions, WGA and SAG-AFTRA. According to American sources, Warner Bros. has chosen to delay the release until the stellar cast of the film — Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgård, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh and Léa Seydoux — will not be able to promote the sequel to the Oscar-winning film in 2021 .

The postponement of Villeneuve’s film had, as a side effect, the postponement of other blockbusters. With the new date, «Dune 2» had gone on to overlap «Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire». The film on the two “monsters” will therefore be postponed to April 12, 2024, a month after the original date. In turn, «Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire» found itself in the release window of «The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim», an animated fantasy film linked to the universe created by JRR Tolkien. The change of date is therefore mandatory also for the new film of «The Lord of the Rings», which will arrive in cinemas in December 2024. Eight months after the original date.
