ISRO says Chandrayaan-3 has achieved two of its three objectives

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has reported that the Chandrayaan-3 mission has successfully accomplished two out of its three primary goals. According to ISRO, the Vikram lander and the Pragyan rover, which landed on the moon on August 23, are performing their missions flawlessly.

ISRO, through its official Twitter page, shared updates on the progress of the Chandrayaan-3 program. It confirmed that the goals of landing on the moon’s south pole and maneuvering the rover on the lunar surface have been achieved.

Furthermore, ISRO highlighted that all instruments of the mission are functioning correctly, allowing for comprehensive scientific studies to be conducted.

Prime Minister greets ISRO scientists in person

Following his return from a four-day trip abroad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally met with ISRO scientists in Bengaluru to congratulate them on their remarkable achievement. During the meeting, Modi announced that the location where Chandrayaan-3 successfully landed on the moon will be named Shivshakti. Additionally, August 23 will be observed as National Space Day to commemorate this historic achievement.

Modi expressed gratitude towards the scientists, acknowledging their contribution to inspiring the next generation and leaving an indelible impression on them. He commended the scientists for taking the ‘Make in India’ initiative to new heights by landing on the moon.

We have done what no one has done before.” He went on to praise the visuals captured by Chandrayaan-3’s cameras, emphasizing that this was the first time humankind witnessed the moon’s surface with such clarity. Modi recognized the success of Chandrayaan-3 as a triumph not only for India but for all of humanity.

Moti chanted ‘Jai Vigyan’, ‘Jai Anusandan’

Arriving directly in Bengaluru on August 26 after concluding a visit to Greece, Prime Minister Modi chanted ‘Jai Vigyan’ (Long Live Science) and ‘Jai Anusandan’ (Long Live Research) upon landing at the city’s HAL airport. Addressing the gathered crowd, Modi conveyed his happiness in meeting the scientists and highlighted the global impact of their scientific achievements.

Modi said, “Not only Indians but people all over the world who believe in science and foresee the future through it are happy.” He also expressed his appreciation for the scientists’ gift to the nation, drawing parallels between the enthusiastic reception in Bengaluru and his experience in Greece.

Modi expressed his joy in meeting the scientists and revealed that he had prioritized the meeting as soon as he returned to India.
