An expert working group to the government will coordinate all the necessary activities on the part of the state to ensure a phased transition of the refinery in Burgas to the processing of non-Russian oil. For this purpose, a specific time schedule will be prepared, the Council of Ministers announced.
Today, the Security Council to the government discussed the potential risks of a possible early termination of the derogation for import of Russian oil and oil products for processing in “Lukoil Neftohim Burgas“. The term of use of Russian oil is until the end of 2024.
The risks are reflected in analyzes and reports of the Ministry of Economy and Industry together with the Ministries of Finance and of Transport and Communications, of the State Agency “National Security”, State Agency “Intelligence” and Service “Military Intelligence”. The members of the Council formulated concrete measures to reduce the risks, which will be proposed for discussion by the Council of Ministers. The government will consider them in a closed session.
The proposal for an early termination of the derogation was submitted to the parliament before the summer vacation of the deputies by people’s representatives from “GERB-SDS”, “Continuing the Change – Democratic Bulgaria” and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms.
