The widow of Pastor Tim Keller, who died aged 72 on May 19, said recently that admirers of her husband’s ministry may fondly remember his story, but the family would not want people to turn his grave into a visiting place. .

A thanksgiving service for the life of the pastor and writer was held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, gathering more than 2,000 people, in addition to an audience of over 10,000 live during the streaming via internet.

Kathy Keller used the word to state that her husband I knew I was leaving and he scripted the funeral service himself to keep the event from being flashy: “You may have noticed that this is not the usual type of funeral service. That’s because Tim wrote it himself, the way he liked to do other people’s funerals […] So blame Tim if there aren’t videos, choruses and lengthy testimonials.”

She then stated that she wouldn’t want people to turn her husband’s grave into some kind of pilgrimage site: “Tim is buried in St. Michael’s Cemetery… but that place is huge and you wouldn’t be able to find the grave, even if try,” he said.

“But please don’t try, which is why I don’t want you to: you know those movie scenes, like at the end of Saving Private Ryan, where does one have a heart-to-heart while standing at the deceased person’s tombstone? Tim and I are always uncomfortable with that because the person isn’t really there. Tim is with Jesus – healed, loved, more alive and happier than ever.”

According to information from the portal The Christian PostKathy said she’s already decided what to write on her husband’s tombstone: “I’ve been considering several Bible verses about her… reveal that he chose the verses from Isaiah 26:1, 12 and 19.

“In that day this song will be sung in Judah: We have a strong city; God sets up salvation like walls and trenches. […] Lord, you establish peace for us; everything we achieved, you did it for us. […] But your dead will live; their bodies will rise. You who have returned to dust, wake up and sing for joy. Your dew is dew of light; the earth will give birth to her dead”, read the widow.

Kathy ended her tribute to her husband by reiterating her faith in the promise made by God through the prophet: “Isaiah was speaking of a future reality, with no more deaths or tears. Tim is living in that reality now. How I long for all of us to trust the God he now worships face to face, so that one day we can all sit together for that feast.”
