San Salvador. The General Directorate of Civil Protection has issued a green alert for the rains that will generate a low pressure system and an intertropical convergence zone, nationwide.
The Threat Observatory of the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources issued a report on Tuesday, August 22, that refers to both phenomena that will generate rain, starting on the night of August 23.
According to the report, on the coasts of Central America and southern Mexico, the probability of formation of a low pressure area remains during the next few days, with slow development as it moves northwest.
“For the next 48 hours this system has a 10% probability of development, and between two to seven days the probability increases to 50%. It is expected that this possible low pressure, together with the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ZCIT), will increase the field of cloudiness, rains and storms with emphasis on the central and coastal strip of the country”, the report specifies.
According to this report, in deep waters to the south of the Gulf of Fonseca, accelerated winds are estimated, between 30 and 50 kilometers per hour.
