That Alberto Núñez Feijóo does not close the dialogue was something already known, despite the criticism received in recent days for his willingness to “talk” with the leaders of Junts. However, the president of the PP has wanted to make it clear that he will not accept blackmail, auctions “nor will he submit to what the minorities want”, in a clear allusion to the pro-independence parties. And he will not do it, he has assured him, for a simple reason: “We are not Sánchez.”

This was stated at the opening ceremony of the political course in Soutomaior (Pontevedra), where he insisted that if the investiture consists of “further humiliating the institutions, Sánchez will win it”, but “Spain will lose it”.

Surrounded by several of his territorial barons, the president of the PP has made it clear that he will not allow “cessions or privileges”, despite being only four votes away from achieving his investiture. On the contrary, he wanted to emphasize that Sánchez is ready for anything: “An amnesty, incompatible with the Constitution; an independence referendum, inappropriate for an EU country; a weaker government and once again breaking the principle of equality for all the Spanish”.

In reference to the negotiations, the popular leader has indicated that opening talks with other political groups does not mean that he agrees with the proposals of said formations, but he considers that the time has come to listen to everyone and put an end to that era in the one that silenced those who did not think like you. Of course, he insists that he would rather lose the inauguration than be president “at any price.”

Four votes from the majority

Facing the session in Congress, he has expressed his gratitude to the three forces that have already given him their support, Vox, UPN and the Canary Islands Coalition, who have shown generosity in supporting the PP so that it can “govern alone”, has remarked.

“Eleven million Spaniards deserve to have their voices heard and a project for change presented,” said Feijóo, who advocates “opening a new time, recovering moderation and centrality, and not depending on radical and pro-independence minorities.”

He stresses that “in politics not everything is worth it” and that he will not be president at any price, compared to those who “call it a lie to change your mind; to agree, coincide in the votes and when they lose, they “win”.

In this sense, Feijóo says he has drawn up the guidelines that he will offer at the investiture session and that they will show that it is a “party that believes in Spain, that was born to serve Spain and the Spanish people and that does not assume the presidency of Spain as personal ambition, but as a public service”.

The leader of the PP has pointed out several issues that he will take to Congress in the investiture debate and that range from economic proposals to create employment and wealth to aspects such as the reform of regional financing, a national pact for water or the opening of a process of institutional regeneration.
