La 31a Schubertiad of Vilabertran finished this sunday with a 12% more tickets sold. A recital by the Casals Quartet closed the festival, which brought together 5,350 people, with 92% occupancy. 10 of the 19 scheduled concerts have sold out. Victor Medem, director of the Schubertíada, has highlighted the commitment to young European talent. “It is our duty and also our passion to reach out to a new generation of musicians who are shaping a new golden age of poetic song”, he indicated. Precisely, the soprano Erika Baikoff inaugurated the Schubertíada on August 16. Lyric singer and pianist James Baillieu performed a repertoire of poetic songs by different composers.
