The Snow Sculpture Festival has been held annually in Harbin, the provincial capital of Heilongjiang, China since 1963. The Snow Sculpture Festival has got off to a great start this year as well. This year’s festival is dedicated to the Winter Olympics to be held there.
A large area of 4 lakh square meters is covered with a variety of ice sculptures. 2 lakh 30 thousand cubic meters of ice have been used to display 65 types of sculptures. A 42 meter high torch commemorating the Winter Olympics has been placed. The Olympic torch is designed with 24 steps to mark the 24th Winter Games. It is named as Top of the Fire.
Similarly, palaces, mansions, and monuments on other continents are realistically designed in spectacular colors.
The Kremlin Palace in Russia and the Kugalkan Pyramid, a symbol of the Mayan civilization in Mexico, are some of the most fascinating monuments.
The Ice Sculpture Festival is set to take place in China until the end of the winter, on February 28th. Swimming and wedding events have been banned for a second year due to corona spread. However, it is estimated that 1 crore people from all over the world will visit Harbin.
