Magnitude 7.0 Earthquake Strikes Bali Sea Region of Indonesia

August 29 (Reuters) – A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 hit the Bali Sea region of Indonesia on Tuesday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

The epicenter of the quake was located 203 km (126 miles) north of Mataram, Indonesia. It was an extremely deep quake, with a depth of 516 km (320.63 miles) below the Earth’s surface, as reported by EMSC. The U.S. Geological Survey, on the other hand, measured the magnitude at 7.1.

Fortunately, the U.S. Tsunami Warning System confirmed that there were no threats of a tsunami resulting from the earthquake, given its deep occurrence beneath the seabed.

So far, there have been no immediate reports of any damage or casualties. However, several individuals on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) shared videos depicting the tremors they felt in the area.

The situation is still being monitored, and authorities are urging residents to remain cautious. It is advised to stay informed through official channels and follow any instructions provided by local authorities.

This is a developing story, and more updates will be provided as information becomes available.
