Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expects to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in September and before the start of the high-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, scheduled for September 19.

According to Day.Az, this was reported to TASS by a source in political circles in Ankara.

“Erdogan and Putin will meet before the opening of the General Assembly. Not later. The final date is still at the stage of agreement, but this will happen before the UN General Assembly,” the source said. He also added that the parties intend to “carefully discuss the prospects for a peaceful solution” to the conflict in Ukraine.

In addition, Erdogan and Putin will discuss both the original grain deal and possible alternatives for food delivery, the source said. “Ankara’s position has been expressed more than once, including the other day [глава МИД Хакан] Fidan in Kyiv noted that the original version of the grain deal in terms of the delivery route is the most preferable, in contrast to theoretical alternatives. At the talks between the leaders in Russia, the issue of resuming the deal in its previous form will be discussed as a whole. But possible alternatives for delivering grain to countries in need will also be on the agenda,” the source said.

Earlier we wrote that the media called a new date for a possible meeting between Erdogan and Putin.
