“Illegal Criminal Persecution” case: MP captures Juan Francisco Sandoval’s lawyer

The Public Ministry (MP) reported that this Monday, the Internal Affairs Prosecutor’s Office in coordination with the National Civil Police (PNC), carried out search proceedings in properties located in zone 5, and in the municipalities of San Miguel Petapa and Mixco from the department of Guatemala. These are developed as part of the Illegal Criminal Prosecution case, where the apprehension of Claudia González, lawyer for the former head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Impunity (FECI), Juan Francisco Sandoval, who is outside the country, has been reported.

At the moment, the charges against González have not been reported and it was unofficially known that there are also arrest warrants against Sandoval and the former prosecutor Eva Siomara Sosa. The proceedings were ordered by the tenth judge B, as reported in the media.

The investigative entity explained that, as part of the proceedings of the case, a property was raided in San Miguel Petapa where firearms and cash were located.

During the first hours of this Monday, through a publication on social networks, Sandoval said that MP prosecutors were conducting searches at the home of his parents and his lawyer, Claudia González.

According to the former prosecutor, who is in the United States and has several arrest warrants and even an extradition request, his parents are elderly and “are being intimidated” for the actions and work he carried out at the time in the PM.
