Endesa already supplies the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), commercially known as Valenciaport, with fully renewable energy; a supply that falls within the objective “2030 Zero Emissions” which governs all investment projects in the Valencian port, the Spanish leader in commercial traffic in the Mediterranean.

With this commitment to renewable energy, Endesa estimates that the emission of 24,570 tons of CO2 will be avoided each year, the equivalent of the absorption that more than 41,400 trees can carry out for 40 years.

The agreement with the retailer Endesa Energía, winner of the Valenciaport public tender, plans to supply up to 90 GWh per year over the next 4 years and thus cover all of the PAV’s energy needs in the three state-owned ports it manages, as well as the Cullera and Canet lighthouses or the central offices of the Port Authority, among others.

Endesa will feed nine supply points, for which the company guarantees that 100% of the energy will be certified with a Guarantee of Origin (GdOs) issued by the National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC).

This new alliance with Endesa will allow Valenciaport to continue advancing on its roadmap towards decarbonization in the development of all its activity. The PAV has positioned itself as a benchmark in terms of decarbonization with initiatives such as the use of hydrogen in port operations, photovoltaic plants in the Valencia or Gandía facilities, electricity production by the movement of waves, or by wind turbines. Actions to which is added the promotion of the use of the railway and the motorways of the sea.
