Just don’t do anything with texts, was given to me at school, and in fact several times, when it came to the question of what should become of me one day, because I was bad at German. And besides, I wrote far too long convoluted sentences and digressions, and quite frankly I still don’t know how to write newspaper articles, because I haven’t learned that any more than I learned punctuation. Bavarian grammar schools, especially those that counted among the elite in the 1980s, gave students few false hopes of a good professional future:
