ASUS has been working on creating a new motherboard connector to deliver more than 600W to a graphics card. It was showing it off at Computex last year and now it looks like it’s working on standardizing it according to various diagrams posted on Twitter. It would be a solution to the possible problems of the 12VHPWR connector, but it would require that it be widely accepted by manufacturers of graphics cards and motherboards, so it would have to be standardized by the PCI-SIG, for example.

The Twitter account @momomo_us has published a series of diagrams that detail this HPCE connector that is the one that goes to the motherboard, and the GC-HPWR that is integrated into the graphics card. The advantage of eliminating one or more cables is more than interesting to keep the interior of the equipment clear, which in the end favors the air flow.
