A big sigh of relief among millions of German television viewers: For the first time since 2019, a “Helene Fischer Show” will be shown on television again this Christmas. ZDF announced this on Wednesday on request. In addition to dpa, the industry service dwdl.de and other media had previously reported on a corresponding announcement by Helene Fischer during a performance. “I am very grateful, after a long time back and forth, that I can tell you that the “Helene Fischer Show” is finally available this year.” she was quoted by a fan page. The concert show is scheduled to run on December 25 at 8:15 p.m. on the second, as the ZDF spokeswoman explained.
It will therefore be an anniversary edition – namely the number 10. The format, which has such high ratings as it was enriched by top executives in the industry, has been an integral part of German Christmas every year since 2011 and was last broadcast in 2019 – at that time with almost six million viewers. In the years that followed, the show was canceled due to Corona. In 2020, a three-hour best-of compilation comforted the fans. Most recently, “The Helene Fischer Show” fell into the water in 2022 because of “many imponderables and production challenges”.
Just two weeks ago there was a big question mark over the resumption of TV production. “Honestly, I don’t know yet whether the show can actually be implemented this year,” Helene Fischer’s longtime manager Uwe Kanthak told RTL at the time. According to Kanthak, they are in the planning stage, but the costs of putting such an event on the stage have risen so much “that it’s no longer fun”.
The year so far has been fun for Helene Fischer in many ways. In March, the pop singer had to postpone the start of her big tour of Germany by three weeks and to Hamburg because of a broken rib during the last rehearsals for her show. A few weeks later, at a concert in Hanover, she hit her head on a trapeze mount and suffered a bloody laceration. The concert ended with that. Just like the first part of their tour. Only this week she continued her big concert tour in Cologne’s Lanxess Arena after a summer break that had been planned anyway. Until the beginning of October she will be performing three times each in Vienna (Stadthalle), Zurich (Hallenstadion), Munich (Olympiahalle) and Frankfurt am Main (Festhalle).
