Xbox works with Larian for Baldur’s Gate 3 co-op

The Series S version will not include local cooperative, but it is sought to bring it after launch.

There has been a lot of talk lately about the Baldur’s Gate 3 Release Delay and Why on Xbox. It has been confirmed last week that the Xbox Series X and S version will arrive sometime in 2023. Confirmation of the new release window came when Microsoft allows developer to remove local co-op support on Xbox Series S, although it appears that this feature is still being worked on.

To answer some questions we’re getting, we’ll continue to work with Larian to explore the addition of split-screen on Series S post launch.

In a response from the official Xbox Twitter account, Microsoft confirmed that the team “will continue to work with Larian” in split-screen mode for Xbox Series S, hinting that the feature will come after launch.

Of course, this isn’t a confirmation that they’re going to be able to get local co-op working efficiently on Xbox Series S, but there is still a willingness on the part of both Microsoft and Larian to launch this mode on the Xbox console.

For now, all we know is that the game is coming out on Xbox this year., and that the Xbox Series S version will be affected by its lack of support for local co-op at launch. Even so, all versions of the game will support cross-save.
