Bilateral Meeting Between the Presidents of Burundi and South Africa: Strengthening Fraternal Bonds.
Johannesburg (South Africa), August 25, 2023 – In accordance with the diplomatic orientation of the Burundians, at the closing of the historic BRICS summit, in the company of his excellent Burundian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Shingiro Albert, His Excellency Ndayishimiye Evariste, Major General and President of Burundi, held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Ramaphosa Cyril, President of South Africa and the ANC party. The Barundi began by congratulating their South African brothers and sisters. Indeed, the BRICS meeting they had just organized marked a turning point in contemporary world history, a real success. The BRICS, in 2022, reshaped the global balance towards multipolarity, leaving behind the old order.
The exchanges between the two delegations mainly focused on methods of strengthening fraternal ties between South Africa and Burundi.
THE Burundian peoples et South Africans come from a common heritage, theYou were singingl’Ubuntu. This meeting underlined the need to revive the banyamabanga of yesteryear, the visionaries, planners and regulators of our societies. Without concerted harmonious planning, encompassing all policies in the service of the people, our nations cannot survive.
Colonization unfortunately led to the massacre, exclusion and marginalization of our banyamabanga. It is time for them to regain their active role. A plan is imperative to plot our path through time.
From 1989 to 2022, the orientations of our States (visible through various development plans) have been influenced by the planners of the GUAN [1]. Today, at the dawn of the multipolar era initiated by the BRICS, it is essential that our countries develop their projects with their own experts and not foreigners. Hence the need to restore our eminent bapfumu – banyamabanga – scholars to their rightful place.
