“This afternoon, the FGR has requested that 4 properties and 2 bank accounts in the name of former President Salvador Sánchez Cerén and his family group pass to the State,” the Prosecutor’s Office indicated on X (Twitter).
Apart from Sánchez Cerén, this petition also includes the former secretary of the presidency José Manuel Melgar Henríquez. The total amount of the assets is 1.5 million dollars.
According to the investigations carried out by the institution, through money and asset laundering, the former president had an unjustified increase in assets.
“The former president had an unjustified increase in assets from funds from the State to different accounts. These events occurred between 2014 and 2019 when Sánchez Cerén fulfilled his mandate, ”the FGR mentions in X.
