Superstars overnight: The Kaulitz twins Bill and Tom made their breakthrough in 2005 with their band “Tokio Hotel” with their single “Durch den Monsum”. The song went to #1 on the charts.
Since then, the two have been an integral part of the music and entertainment industry. Look forward to more from the brothers this year as well. In autumn 2023, the brothers will appear together as coaches on “The Voice of Germany”.

Bill and Tom are turning 34 today
The identical twins Bill and Tom were born in Leipzig on September 1, 1989 and moved to near Magdeburg when they were young. They discovered their passion for music at a young age and started playing the guitar and writing songs. Her parents encouraged her talent and musical development.
The joint success story began with the founding of the band Tokio Hotel in 2001, with which Bill became known as a singer and Tom as a guitarist. The twins’ iconic look – striking hairstyles, black kohl, piercings and unconventional clothing – spoke to an entire generation and inspired many youngsters to express themselves.

After their breakthrough with “Durch den Monsun” they released their debut album “Schrei” (2005) in the same year. It became an enormous success and laid the foundation for her career. At this point, the brothers are 16 years old.
Over the years they’ve evolved their sound while experimenting on albums like Zimmer 483 and Kings of Suburbia. From rock to pop to electronic elements, they proved their versatility.
With the success, the pressure also increased: the fan community and the fascination for the band members increased. It just got too much for the brothers in Germany. In 2010, the twins moved to Los Angeles (USA) to get away from the public life.
Tokio Hotel celebrated their comeback in 2014 with their “Kings of Suburbia” album and other songs.

The iconic duo is now not only successful with their music. They take part in TV formats and host shows like “That’s my Jam”. In 2013 you were also a juror for the talent show “DSDS”. In autumn 2023, the two will be part of a jury again, this time on “The Voice of Germany”.
In addition, the brothers talk weekly in their podcast “Kaulitz Hills – Senf aus Hollywood” about current topics and private events from the lives of the famous siblings.
