The incidence rate of Covid-19 in Primary Care in Spain is 130.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to data from last week (from August 21 to 27), which represents an increase of 69.53% compared to the previous week, when there were 76.8 cases. However, it is a figure that is still below that reached last year in the same week when the incidence was 153.05 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
This is stated in the report on Sentinel Surveillance of Acute Respiratory Infection in Primary Care and in Hospitals carried out by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII)which does weekly monitoring of respiratory viruses in Spain.
The highest rates are observed in the group of those over 64 years of age. The hospitalization rate stands at 3.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitantscompared to 2.6 cases in the previous week, which represents a rise of 18.75%.
At the end of June, the figure was 0.51 cases, so there has been an increase of 527% since then. By age groups, the highest hospitalization rates are observed in the group of those over 79 years of age (32.2 cases per 100,000 h).
Among patients aged 60 and over, the highest rates of Covid-19 hospitalization are observed from the age of 80, with 56.4 hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants in the group of 89 and over years.
