british mining company Technology Mineralswhich for three years explores the existence of cobalt, copper and nickel resources in the Aramo sierraexpects to undertake the new phase of its works this semester by starting the diamond drilling campaign of an exploratory nature aimed at unmined mineralization, as well as extensions of the main mineralized zones.

Through its subsidiaries LRH Resources Limited and Asturmet Recursos, Technology Minerals has eight exploration permits in Asturias (covering a total area of 535 square kilometers), all of which are considered prospective for cobalt, nickel and copper mineralization.

In the case of Aramo, the company, based in London, has so far carried out sampling at the four accessible working levels in the old Texeo mine, in the municipality of Riosa, which was operational until 1957. The analyzes carried out in a Irish laboratory of 205 samples of rocks extracted from the old exploitation offered promising results, with a high grade mineral presence: between 1% and 28% copper, between 0.1% and 1.68% nickel and between 0.1% and 1.88% cobalt.

Technology Minerals carried out an extensive characterization study of “extensive zones of alteration and mineralization” that are “present and clearly observed” in part of levels 3 and 4 of the mine, and hired Sadim, the diversification subsidiary of the state company Hunosa mining company, conducting a 3D laser survey at those same levels of the former mine to provide an accurate three-dimensional model framework of mine operations, as well as more intensive and systematic underground mapping and sampling at these levels.

This study “facilitates a better understanding of the geological and mineralogical model at Aramo,” according to the company, and will serve as the basis for 3D visual planning for diamond drilling.

The company believes it “possible” that the drilling campaign can be undertaken this semester. In the initial project, the company already planned to carry out the evaluation phase in the third year of research through a total of 24 surveys and 3,000 meters of drilling at a cost that in 2019 was estimated at 300,000 euros.

Last year the group obtained from the Principality a three-year extension (until 2025) for its “St. Patrick” license, on Aramo land.

Technology Minerals defines itself as a “junior” mining company, which are the ones that usually carry out exploration and investigation of new mineral resources. In Wolverhampton, it also has the first industrial-scale facility in the United Kingdom to recycle lithium-ion batteries and recover critical metals.

In addition to Spain, the group has mining exploration licenses in Ireland (lithium), Cameroon (nickel, copper and cobalt) and three projects in the US for cobalt-copper and manganese with rare earth elements.
