Pocopson Township, PA – The residents of Pocopson Township in Chester County are being urged to remain indoors and lock their doors following the escape of Danelo Cavalcante, a convicted murderer, from the nearby Chester County Prison. As the search enters its third day, law enforcement agencies are intensifying their efforts to apprehend the dangerous fugitive.

Cavalcante, who had been serving time after his conviction for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Deborah Brandao, managed to escape the prison on Thursday morning. He has evaded capture thus far and is now the focus of a massive manhunt. Authorities have released footage from a residential surveillance camera, showing Cavalcante on the 1800 block of Lenape Road in Pocopson Township around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, approximately 1.5 miles from the prison.

In addition to the sighting, there has been an attempted burglary reported in the area on Friday night, raising concerns about potential violence and theft. The Chester County District Attorney’s Office has described Cavalcante as a man wearing a light-colored T-shirt, white sneakers, and pants. He has long, black curly hair and was seen carrying a backpack.

To aid in the search, a large contingent of law enforcement officers, including the U.S. Marshals Service, SWAT teams, and various local, state, and federal agencies, have been deployed to scour the area. Chester County District Attorney, Deb Ryan, issued a statement urging residents to stay vigilant and report anything suspicious to the authorities. She emphasized that Cavalcante is considered extremely dangerous and advised the public not to approach him but to immediately call 911 if spotted.

Cavalcante’s conviction on first-degree murder charges in Brandao’s killing occurred on August 16th. In an effort to expedite his recapture, a reward of $10,000 has been offered for any information leading to his arrest.

As the manhunt continues, updates on the situation will be provided as they become available. The safety of the community remains paramount as law enforcement agencies work tirelessly to bring Cavalcante back into custody.
