Manila: Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has taken a tougher line on fears of increasing corona damage. He announced that those who did not get vaccinated would be arrested immediately if they left the house in violation of the order.
In his address to the nation, Duterte called on community leaders to ensure that unvaccinated people are kept indoors. The Omicron variant is also spreading rapidly in the Philippines. Due to this the number of infections is increasing.
Lockdown is imposed in Manila
The Philippine government on Tuesday imposed a curfew in and around the capital, Manila, according to the Independent. In addition, those who have not yet been vaccinated are ordered to stay at home.
Under the new restrictions, school students will be suspended from attending classes and attending sports events. Whereas parks, churches and restaurants have been asked to operate with less efficiency. It is noteworthy that only 45 per cent of the country’s 11 crore population has been fully vaccinated.

‘This is a national emergency’
‘This is a national emergency. I have a responsibility to protect every citizen. In such a situation, I have decided to control those who are not vaccinated. ‘ Said President Rodrigo Duterte.
He added, ‘We need to look for those who have not been vaccinated and ask them not to go anywhere outside. If they refuse to do so, they should be arrested immediately. ‘ said. The chancellor said he was surprised to see a large number of people who have not yet been vaccinated.
Such warnings have been issued before
In June last year, as the delta variation spread rapidly in the Philippines, Duterte threatened to imprison those who refused to be vaccinated. So far, more than 28 million people in the Philippines have been infected with the coronavirus, and 51,700 have died.
So far 43 people there have been affected by the Omigron variant. On Thursday, the month after September, a large number of people were reported infected. On that day, 17,220 people in the country were newly infected.
