JAKARTA – Dozens of patients on the spot drug rehabilitation Jalan Ir H Juanda, Rempoa, East Ciputat, South Tangerang (Tangsel), went on a rampage on Saturday morning, September 2, 2023. They tied up an employee, damaged the facility and armed themselves with sharp pieces of iron and glass to escape.
Based on the statement of the foundation manager, the incident began at around 01.00 WIB when an employee checked the condition of the patients in the room. On the 3rd floor, the employee approached a room to retrieve documentation. In front of the room there are also several patients in a sleeping position on the floor.
“When I was about to take a photo for a report, suddenly several other patients appeared from behind and immediately clamped our employee’s neck, threatened, his neck was tapped with a piece of iron,” said the program coordinator of the rehabilitation center at the site, Dwi Mecca Arista, Sunday (3/3). 9/23).
The actions of the patients were recorded by Close Circuid Television (CCTV). Seen in the video, a number of male patients who pretended to be sleeping in front of the room immediately opened the blankets and squeezed the duty officer from behind. A piece of iron seemed to be aimed at the employee’s neck.
The employee was then tied using shoelaces in a room on the 3rd floor. Then the patients took the room keys and rushed to open all the rooms. There was a commotion that caused other employees on different floors to wake up too.
“When there was a noise above, I woke up, then I saw that there were already many patients leaving the room. I and other employees immediately went out (of the building) asking for help to the security of the bank next door, we also coordinated with the environment. We locked the door so they can’t get out,” he said.
Approximately 20 drug rehab patients initially tried to escape through the 4th floor of the building. However, only 3 patients dared to jump onto the roof of another building. As for the rest, they chose to go down to the 1st floor and take the grinder to dismantle the locked entry.
“There were three patients who jumped away from the 4th floor, the others came down and wanted to break down the door on the 1st floor. They couldn’t dismantle the locks,” he said.
From a search inside the building, it was seen that a number of facilities were in damaged condition, money safes, doors, iron bars, glass walls, CCTV, computers, and motorbikes. The patients deliberately broke the iron bars and glass walls to be used as weapons.
“In total, we have CCTV in all rooms, everything is destroyed. Glass is broken to make weapons. Our computers are also doused with water, maybe the goal is to delete data files. So this is indeed as planned,” he said.
