The President of the General Union of Charitable Societies, Dr. Atef Odaibat, said that the General Union of Charitable Societies, since its establishment in 1959, seeks to support humanitarian and voluntary initiatives to meet the needs of local communities, the poor, the less fortunate, and people with disabilities, and to invest its capabilities efficiently and effectively to achieve work, achievement, distinction, and social peace, to be synonymous with civil society institutions in terms of Through coordination and networking for the purposes of unifying organized teamwork and contributing to supporting institutions and society.
Adiyat added that the Jordan Lotto Charitable Lottery is a well-known form of lottery and is distributed in Islamic countries such as Lebanon, Iraq, the Emirates, Oman and many other Arab and Islamic countries and is the most popular among other types of lotteries. And also contribute to the support of unions and associations in the provinces.
And he indicated that the General Union provided hundreds of millions of dinars as aid to unions and charitable societies in the governorates and implemented many projects, programs and charitable initiatives depending on the financial resources derived from the distribution of the Jordanian charitable lottery, which is a model for charitable and humanitarian work, as it has earned respect, appreciation and prestigious status at the national and regional levels. and international.
He pointed out that the establishment of the Jordanian Charity Lottery came according to a royal bounty from His Majesty, the late, God willing, King Hussein bin Talal, where the Council of Ministers issued the Charitable Lottery System, which determined the various types of lotteries and framed them in national legislation in order to be compatible with the Jordanian constitution and with the general system of society. Jordanian culture, customs, traditions and beliefs.
And he indicated that the issuance of the lottery came in order to support charitable work and social solidarity, and it is a global phenomenon par excellence spread in our Arab and Islamic societies.
He appreciated the efforts and support of the members of the administrative body of the General Union, heads of unions in the governorates, and representatives of the media to support the General Union’s message, goals, activities, and programs, and to highlight the efforts it made to promote charitable, voluntary, humanitarian and development work throughout the country.
