The University of Catatumbo will be a national public university and a group of Higher Education Institutions with a presence in the region will offer relevant and quality academic programs to the community starting in the first semester of 2024.
This was reported by the Vice Minister (E) of Higher Education, Wilfer Valero Quintero, during the first day of the meeting on the actions proposed in the “Pact for the Territorial Transformation of Catatumbo” dedicated to the commitments of the Ministry of National Education with the construction of an educational project aimed at strengthening training processes at all levels, from Initial Education to Higher Education.
The Vice Minister (E) of Higher Education explained that the process of accompaniment to the community to consolidate the University of Catatumbo is based on the principle that it will be a public Higher Education Institution of the national order, which will allow the government of President Gustavo Petro to guarantee the necessary resources to finance its operation under the General Budget of the Nation.
“A thousand and a thousand thanks we say to you from Catatumbo because a line is being drawn to build a different history in our territory. The transformative project is education seen from early childhood to university, that will undoubtedly change the lives of those who live in Catatumbo “said Alberto Castilla, social leader of this North Santander region.
