His lawyers revealed: “Djokovic fell ill in Corona”

by time news

The world’s top tennis player is preparing for the legal battle: Novak Djokovic has been at a migration facility in Melbourne, Australia, for two days now, after his entry visa to participate in the Australian Open was revoked. His eyes are now on the coming Monday, so Djokovic, with the help of his lawyers, is expected to appeal the decision to deport him, and today (Saturday) the news agencies in Australia publish the defense version.

According to the publication, Djokovic’s lawyers claim that under Australian law, recoverers (ie those who fell ill and recovered up to six months ago) should be allowed in, and presented documents that Djokovic fell ill in Corona on December 16 (before less than a month). Meaning: Djokovic’s entry visa should not have been revoked, and he is allowed to enter the country. But then, the rules changed – he refused and entered the immigration facility where he is to this day.

As you may recall, on Wednesday night Djokovic was scheduled to enter Australia to take part in the local championships, which will open on 17 January. Following the demon dance, quite a few protests began in Serbia and in Australia itself, including Djokovic fans who demonstrated in favor of his release. The Victoria government is currently refusing, and Djokovic is due to leave the country – unless there are developments over the coming week.
