SAO PAULO (Reuters) -Petrobras (BVMF:) said on Monday that it has decided not to proceed with the divestment of exploration and production assets by and from its subsidiary in Argentina, but will proceed with the sale of stakes in thermoelectric plants.

The company’s management had been reassessing the divestment plan carried out by the past management, and had already indicated that it should go back on agreements for the sale of assets already signed, but which had not yet reached the stage of signing contracts.

The state-owned company ended the divestment processes of Polo Urucu, Polo Bahia Terra, Campo de Manati and Petrobras Operaciones, its subsidiary in Argentina.

Among these processes, the state-owned company previously negotiated the sale of Polo Bahia Terra with a consortium formed by PetroReconcavo (BVMF:) and Eneva (BVMF:), which were awaiting a final position from the company.

For other assets in the oil exploration and production segment, Petrobras said it will periodically reassess their permanence in the portfolio “based on updated assumptions of profitability, strategic adherence, decarbonization opportunities and the stage of its productive life”.

In the case of its stakes in thermoelectric plants, the state-owned company stated that it will proceed with the sale of 20% in Brasympe, owner of thermoelectric fuel oil Termocabo; 20% in the thermal Suape II, also powered by fuel oil; and 18.8% in UEG Araucária, in which it is a partner of Copel (BVMF:).

After the statement from Petrobras, Copel informed that, with the decision of the state-owned company, the companies will proceed with the process of selling 100% of the capital of UEG Araucária through a competitive procedure.
