On the occasion of the start of the new school year in Spain, at the beginning of September, a series of keys are offered below for the appropriate writing of news related to the educational field.
1. The secondary educationbut Compulsory Secondary Education
They are written with lowercase generic names of educational stages and cycles (secondary education o higher education), but with a capital letter if it is the official name because it has proper name value: Compulsory Secondary Education, Vocational Training. In the case that they coincide, as it happens with child education o Early Childhood Educationwhich can refer to both the educational cycle and its official name, one or the other will be chosen depending on what it refers to in each specific case.
Los cycle levels are written in lower case and can be abbreviated with the corresponding representation of the ordinal in arabic: «He has repeated first», «He is in 2nd year of primary school” (with an abbreviation point).
2. Subjects and branches of knowledge
The names of the scientific disciplines and branches of knowledge are written with lowercase initials (“There have been great advances in the field of engineering”), but with capital letters if it is the name of a subject or subject in the academic environment (“This year I am going to study English and Mathematics”), even though both appear in the same sentence, as in “Architecture has come a long way since I studied Architecture.”

They are written with initial capitals if it’s about departments of the institution: Secretariat, Chair of Linguistics. 5. Positions, professions and qualifications
The names of positions, professions or qualifications are written with initial lowercase: teacher, professor, doctor, agricultural engineer….

10. Congresses, courses, conferences…, in general with capital letters
are written with initial capital letters all the significant terms of the titles both of the meetings of professionals and specialists (Conference on Research Networks in Teaching Innovation) as of the plans, projects or programs (Teacher Training Program).
11. Honoraryin lowercase and italics
the locution Honorary is written in lowercase and, because it is a Latinism, also in italics: «He has been invested today doctor Honorary».
