French women’s tennis will have a Russian touch in the coming years. After Varvara Gracheva, 40th player in the world, who has been playing for France since the end of June, a new Russian player has been naturalized French. It is the young (14 years old) Ksenia Efremova who announced it this Monday on Instagram. She obtained French nationality by a decree of June 28 and poses for a photo with her passport and an outfit in the colors of France.

“Today is a very special day for me. I would like to announce to you all that I have just been naturalized French and that I will represent France very soon during individual tournaments and team competitions. It is an immense honor granted to me and I will do everything to be worthy of it. Come on ! she wrote.

This player is not unknown in France. She has been training, in fact, in France since 2020 at Patrick Mouratoglou’s academy located in Biot (Alpes-Maritimes) and she is considered a prodigy. Just that ! In the Tennis Europe under-14 ranking, the player occupies 2nd place having only played 7 tournaments.

Winner of the Masters Tennis Europe last year, semi-finalist of the Petits As this year, Efremova is in 146th place in the world in juniors. Already followed by more than 48,000 people on Instagram, Ksenia is trained by Pierre Débrosse who took care of Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova during Roland-Garros.
