Mahir Türe, a police officer at the Famagusta Judicial Branch, reported the facts. Police officer Türe said that on September 2, 2023, around 23:00 at night, the suspects, who were walking around the village of İncirli on foot, were considered suspicious by the locals, and they were informed of the situation. The police stated that they went to the scene and the suspects were identified in the village and caught.

The police stated that the suspects, who were taken into custody, stated that 19 people came by boat from Mersin and they disappeared. The police officer stated that only the suspects’ belongings were searched, and official documents and some belongings related to the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus were found. The police said that the suspects were questioned again, and they told that they had illegally sought asylum in Southern Cyprus 9 years ago, but the Greek Cypriot administration did not send them to their country, so they came to the country illegally to pass through the TRNC. The police announced that the suspects have not had any legal entry into the country so far.

Noting that the investigation was completed, the police demanded that the suspects be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 2 months.

Judge Özge Uğraşın, evaluating the testimony given in her presence, ordered the suspects to be sent to prison for a period not exceeding 2 months.
