Free of any contract, the 31-year-old Senegalese midfielder joins Lens for two years.

Senegalese international midfielder Nampalys Mendy, free of any contract, has signed up with RC Lens for two seasons, the French vice-champion club announced in a press release on Monday.

The 31-year-old player, trained in Monaco where he started out as a professional, exploded with neighboring OGC Nice, before being transferred to Leicester with which he was relegated at the end of last season.

This small defensive midfielder (1.67 m), renowned for his slaughter, is a weighty reinforcement in the midfield of the Sang et Or which is suffering at the start of the season since the departure of their emblematic captain Séko Fofana, transferred this been to the Saudi club of Al-Nassr.

Lens, 2nd last year, occupies 17th place in Ligue 1 with only one point and has conceded 10 goals after four days. In the Champions League, the Lensois will face Sevilla FC, Arsenal and PSV Eindhoven in Group B.
