The first selection of novels for the Goncourt Prize revealed on Tuesday September 5, with sixteen titles, includes that of Eric Reinhardt and many revelations, such as Neige Sinno or Kevin Lambert. The Goncourt Academy has excluded authors such as Sorj Chalandon or Amélie Nothomb from this literary return. It has retained rising novelists such as Jean-Baptiste Andrea, who has already won the Fnac novel prize, Dorothée Janin, the Canadian Kevin Lambert and Emilie Frèche.
One of the most noticed first novels of this new school year, that of Neige Sinno, rubs shoulders with those of two academics, Laure Murat and Cécile Desprairies, or Mokhtar Amoudi, already crowned with the prize Sent by La Poste. The prestigious French literary prize is to be awarded on November 7, at the Drouant restaurant in Paris, as tradition dictates.
A second selection is scheduled for October 3, then the list of the four finalists must be revealed on October 25 in Krakow, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first “Goncourt choice”, a series of international awards whose juries are made up of students and French and Francophile high school students.
