More than 70% of Russian companies do not insure data against leaks, while in 14% of cases the damage from data loss exceeds 1 million rubles. Such conclusions are given by the experts of the expert-analytical center of the InfoWatch Group in the study “Assessment of damage due to information leaks” (available from Vedomosti).

The most expensive for companies were leaks of information constituting trade secrets and know-how, as well as personal data. It was personal data that was compromised most often – in 39% of cases, companies allowed their leakage, and in 24%, information constituting a commercial secret was lost. Organizations from only three sectors turned out to be insured: education, banks, and the fuel and energy complex.
