Following the completion of this project, TMB has restored normal services on line 4. The works have involved an investment of 16.4 million euros and have been carried out in two phases between June 26 and August 25th.
During these works the demolition of six kilometers of double track has been carried out and the ballast has been replaced by concrete. In addition, 12,000 linear meters of steel rail have been installed, to which 500 electrical welds and some 400 aluminothermic welds have been applied and which are fastened with 21,000 anti-vibration fixings on a platform made up of 11,500 cubic meters of concrete.
The works have been carried out in two phases (see news). During its execution, the service has been reinforced in the rest of the lines, which have circulated with a frequency between 2:45 and 3:45 minutes. The objective has been to modernize this section of the infrastructure, due to its age, to improve reliability, reduce the number of incidents, solve the problem of vibrations in various sectors and achieve more efficient maintenance with better cost optimization.
