Mexicali, Baja California.- There are more than 8 thousand people or taxpayers who have been admitted to the credit circle so far this year for having debts in the payment of property tax and fines for public cleanliness

The municipal treasurer, Roger Sosa Alaffita, reported that only 255 people admitted to the credit circle have come to pay their debt, with just over 12 million pesos being collected in this regard.

He specified that the more than 3,000 debtors represent about 424 million pesos that have not been paid to the Government of Mexicalia resource that would benefit the municipality and its various areas, directions and dependencies.

He added that for some months people who have fines for public cleanliness, whether for lots or vacant lots, have been entering the credit circle, with five thousand taxpayers having been reported.

He announced that the five thousand people or properties that have some sanction for public hygiene, represent more than 13 million pesos that have not been paid.

He clarified that of the more than 8,000 people who are currently in the credit circle, 5,000 have been for fines from public services for public sanitation and the rest for not paying the property tax.

Regarding what was collected this year from the property tax, he reported that the Government of Mexicali has already received close to 700 million pesos, 40 million pesos more compared to the same period of the previous year.

He added that 10,000 more accounts than last year have paid the tax, so they will continue with the conviction campaigns to continue collecting the resource.

“We already have 51% of cadastral keys that have already paid, last year they closed if I’m not mistaken with 52%, the intention is that this year we can achieve at least 55% of contributors or cadastral keys to pay,” he said.

On the subject of embargoes, he said that they are analyzing a package of taxpayers who were ready to embargo, but they continue to validate that the files are available to start the process.

“We are reviewing the package that we had ready to seize, we are doing a process to validate that we actually have the files at 100%, but in that validation many taxpayers have already approached to regularize and pay,” he concluded.
